About Klaus
Klaus Russell-Wells was born near Münster, Germany in 1989. At 9 years he had his first classical guitar lessons. He kept playing the classical guitar until 7 years later he got his first electric guitar. It wasn't long before he played in a local bigband. He widend his musical horizons playing in schoolbands, a beatles coverband, a weddingband and also a dinnerjazz-duo.
His first influences were Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and any other 70`s Rock band his dad would listen to. Whether listening in the car or at home, Jimmy Page soon became his guitar-hero. Stairway to Heaven for instance wouldn't leave him alone until he could play along with Jimmy. Later he was also strongly influenced by his guitar teacher who convinced him that Jazz could actually be really cool! Trying to combine both, Klaus started playing jazzy rock and rocky jazz, which led him to Blues, Funk and Fusion, finding his inspiration in John Mayer, Carl Verheyen, Guthrie Govan, Alex Hutchings, Tomo Fujita, Greg Howe, Gregor Hilden, Henrik Freischlader and many others.
Having played in many kinds of bands, Klaus is currently concentrating on improvisation. His recordings will from now on be available on this site.
